Technology Today

Today’s technology has provided us with so much expediency that its influences are ecumenical, making it difficult for us to even imagine living a day without it anymore. Technological advancements have, to name just a few, generated more efficient transportation and communication systems, as well as abundant sources of energy for human consumption.

Transportation today has been a lot faster than in bygone days. In a bustling city where time is generally equated to money such as Bangkok, commuters can get to their destinations much faster and safer by the available subway and sky train systems than by using cars or buses in the perpetually congested streets of the city. Getting from one continent to another is no longer a Herculean task. It seems only like a stone’s throw to travel from one end of the earth to the other via several technologically advanced aircrafts, the supersonic ones in particular.

Cross-continent communications technology is no longer a rarity enjoyed by just a few privileged adults. Even six-year old children can learn to click and send their messages to their internet friends everywhere in just a blink of an eye. In olden days when people did not have and probably could not afford the conveniences of such technological advancements, it would take weeks, if not months or years, for an epistle to be delivered to their loved ones.

Nowadays, we can get our energy from many different sources provided to us through new technology. Solar power plants, hydro electrical generators, and nuclear power plants are just a few living proofs of the energy sources aided by modern technology. Not only are they renewable and less labor-intensive to produce, but they are also more efficient and nature-friendly in comparison with those from antiquated sources of energy, such as fossil fuel and coal.

This is all about technology that influences ourlives in the positive way.

The Greatest love

* The Greatest Love

The month of February is said to be the month of love. This is because there is a special day included in this month. That day, as you know, is the Valentine’s Day! I don’t fully remember the background of the Valentine’s Day, but according to what I remember is that it acts like a commemoration of St. Valentine’s love and faith to his girlfriend and his God. However, no matter how great the love of St. Valentine is, there is one person’s love that is the greatest. That person is Jesus Christ.

The love of God the earth and its people was so much that he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to be crucified on the cross to pay the debts of our sins. Jesus Christ left heaven and his throne behind and came to the earth. Jesus Christ was God and man at the same time, while he was in the earth. He loved us so much that he left the heaven and the throne behind and came to die on the cross for us.

It might be easy for someone to love a good person, but it is hard for someone to love a bad person. Jesus loved us while we all are still a sinner, a bad person. He died for us who still are not nice. He died for us to pay the debts of our sins so that we don’t have to pay them by ourselves. Who so ever trust in him shall not perish, but have an everlasting life.

Experience Hong Kong! [2]

Greeting once again! Last week's post is about my experience in Hong Kong on the first day. On this post, I am going to talk about the two days that I spent in Hong Kong. Are you ready? Let's get going then!

It was Wednesday morning. It was the perfect time to start working. My dad and I must wake up early, because we don't know the exact place that we have to go work. My dad was hired by a lady to claim the heritage of the lady's husband, who past away last year. We ate chinese noodle for breakfast and took the train to the 'Central' station, which is five stations away form my hotel. We went there and walk for about a half-kilometers to the 'revenue tower'. This is the first place to start claiming the heritage of the dead. There, they asked for the evidence to prove that my dad is the executor of the estate and was hired by the dead person's wife to do this job. There was no problem at all. Everything worked out very well. They said that we must come back to Hong Kong again in one and a half month time to get the documents and use the documents to proceed to the court of Hong Kong.

After getting the work done, my dad and I felt a lot more comfortable. We spent the rest of the day shopping and find something nice to eat. The things there were quite cheap, comparing to Thailand, but the food were way more expensive. But I think that the food worth its price. The food were very nice and my dad and I enjoyed it a lot.

The next day, we woke up late. After find somthing to eat for breakfast, we packed our bags and our belongings and were ready to leave. We checked out from the hotel at midday and took the bus to the airport. We shopped a little bit more at the airport, and were ready to come home.

At five o'clock in the evening, my dad and I were back in Bangkok. Even thought it was just a short period of time, we enjoyed Hong Kong a lot! This is all about my experience in Hong Kong! Thank you for your attention.

Experience Hong Kong! [1]

Some of you might wonder that why I was absent on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week. The reason that I was absent is that I was in Hong Kong during those days. There is a client from Hong Kong that hired my dad to do a particular job. My dad is not very good in communicating in English, so he took me with him to translate and communicate for him.

On Tuesday, my dad and I woke up at six in the morning, because we need to go to the airport and prepare for our flight. We caught a taxi to Suvarnabumi Airport. We arrived at the airport at eight o'clock. We finished checking in at eight-thirty. Our flight was ten o'clock, so we have around an hour to wander around Suvarnabumi.

On the plane, we ate omelet for breakfast. We arrived at Hong Kong around midday. The first thing we did after we got off the plane was finding a place to have lunch. We were very hungry, because the breakfast that the flight provide were not enough for both of us. We ate lunch at the airport, in a chinese restuarant. The meal was fantastic! Then we caught a bus into the town, to the hotel. The hotel that we stayed in was Shamrock Hotel. After checking in, we were hungry again. We ate chinese noodle at the restuarant near the hotel. We spend the rest of the evening wandering around the town. Then we came back to the Hotel to rest and get ready for the work that is needed to be done on the Wednesday.

This is all about my first day in Hong Kong! I will tell you about the rest of my experience on the next blog. Good bye for now.

A bit more about me

If somebody were to ask me that why did I choose to study law and why study at ABAC, I would need them to come sit down infront of a computer and read this post.

The Story started off last year, when I decided to resign from Traill International School and study at home. I study five subjects that include math, science, social studies, writing and literature. These subjects were the subject in the GED exam that I need to take. The GED exam stands for General Education Diploma. This exam result will give me a highschool equivalency diploma that is needed to get into any university. After I too the exams and passed, I decided to take another one. The second examination I took was the SAT. This examination result will be the passport for the person whoo passed to get into the top universities around the world. My test resultes were quite good. There are several universities, both in Thailand and from abroad that wants to invite me to study there. However, at that particulat time, I wasn't ready to go and study abroad. I decided to apply for Thammasart University, and they accept me! My scores were good enough to study there in the BBA faculty. Everything went well, Until there is a thoughtthat comes to myind. I notice that there are already too many students that study in the BBA faculty in Thailand. This changes my mind. I started to look for another faculty that suits me the most. Then I found the faculty of law.

After I tild my family that I did change my mind to not study in BBA faculty and study in the faculty of law instead, they were very happy. The person who seems to be happy the most is my dad. My dad is a lawyer. He own a law office on Tamkhamheang road, and also act as a law advisor for many business firms. My dad were delighted to hear about my decision I made because he wanted me to inherit the office and carry on the family business. He said that studyinglaw will be a good chance for me, because there is already a job waiting for me. It is not just the job, but all the clients also. This makes me very excited. My dad said that I can use my freetimes to practice law and study the way to use law in our daily lives at the office also. And if there is any questions about any subjects, I can ask my dad. This gives me a lot of advantages.

After knowing what to study, now it is the time to find out where to study. The first two universities I was amming to apply were the Ramkhamheang University and Chulalongkorn University. These two universites is said to be Thailand's top university about the faculty of law. However, both of the university doesn't teach a lot of subjects in English. That is when Assumption University comes into my mind. After checking out the course outline of the university, I found that I need 148 credits to graduate. Out of the 148 credits, one-third the credits were in english. Without wasting anytime, I applied for the Assumption University of Thailand.

This is all about my decision to study the law in the Assumption University of Thailand.

God bless you!!!

My Hobbies (continue)

Hapy New Year 2007, to those who are reading my blog! I had been such a long time since the last time I write in my blog. This is because it is a new year festival and mid-term exam period also. Anyway, without wasting anymore time, I will continue with where I left off last time. That is about my hobbies. Last post, I finished talking about the guitar thing. This one will be about the rest of my hobbies!

When I was young, I didn't like to participate in any sports at all, because I didn't want to get hurt and didn't want to be covered with sweat. However, my dad really love to play sports. He is a basketball player. He loves basketball so much that he built the basketball court next to his office. He always encourage me to play sports by telling me the advantages of sports. He told me that sports will make be happy and healthy, also, use my time wisely. As I grew up, my dad always let me watch sport games on Television. When I reached the age of 14, I started to try some sports. The sport I tried was Basketball. I found that sport was more fun and interesting than what I thought. Before I realize, I was addict to it! Even though I am only 168 cm tall, I really like to play basketball. I play it twice a week, Monday and Friday. Not only basketball that I like to watch and play, I also like football. My favorite football club is Manchester United. I liked all its style and players. I hope that this season Manchester United will manage to win the English Premier League, The FA cup and the UEFA champions league. My favorite national football team is the Netherlands football team. I hope they will be the champion fo the world cup one day.

One of the thing that I spent my time with is my computer. I use my computer to surf internet, chat, play games, and do my homework. The website I visited the most is Google. I usually find information on the things I want to know from google, as well as the photos. I also have the hotmail account, which I use it to chat with my friends through MSN messenger. My favorite PC game is NBA live 2007. Nowadays, every homework that is assigned must be done in the computer. That is why computer is one of the thing that I spent my time with.

My family is a christian family. My family goes to church every Sunday and attends the services Tuesday to Saturday. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, the chruch hase a prayer meeting. On Thursday and Saturday, the church hase a bible study class. My dad's law office is located next to church. This gives my family to attend all of the church's service. My dad is an Elder in the church. He takes care of the prayer meetings and Bible classes.

Introduction

Hi! My name is Mahaporn Mungkala. You can call me Ruud. I was born on the first of September 1989 in Bangkok. Now, I am seventeen-years-old. I am the only child in the family.

My first name, Mahaporn, comes from two words in Thai. First is the word 'maha' and the word 'porn'. The word 'maha' means great, big or enormous. The word 'porn' means blessings. Together, the word 'mahaporn' means 'The Great Blessings'. There are two reasons that my parents named me like that. The first, as a christian, we believe that a children is a special girt from God that was given to the parents to take care and raised up the best way they could. The second, my dad as a lawyer, at the time of my birth, there is one client that came to ask for help from my dad about his lawsuit. That lawsuit brought quite a big sum of money to my family. These two reasons were the reason that I was named 'mahaporn'.

Some of you might wonder why a Thai person's nickname is a Dutch name. This is the reason why. Seventeen years ago, one Dutch football player, Ruud Gulit, was my dad's favorite football player. This is the reason I was named 'Ruud'.

Now, let's talk about my education background. My first school is 'Pensmith'. Pensmith is a Thai school. I studied there from grade one to grade seven. After grade seven, I resigned from that school and apply for Traill International School. The reason is that I wanted to improve my english skills. Traill International School is a small international school, and was established in 1966. This school has approzimately about 400 students. I studied grade eight to grade ten here. This helped improve my english language skills to a better level. After grade ten, I resigned from Traill International School. I started to do some self-study at home for aobut six months, the I decided to take the high-school equivalency examination to get the high school diploma. As a result, I passed and recueved a high school diploma. After fetting the diploma, I took the SAT exam.. On the exam, my math score was 620, my reading score was 510 and my writing score was 480. These exam results gave me the oppertunity to apply for most of the university in Thailand. However, I chose to come to apply at Assumption University because of the university's law program. Assumption University's law faculty is the only university in this country that teaches some subjects in english. This gives me the oppertunity to to improve my english language skills and study law at the same time.

My free times:
I spent most of my free times in four things. Those four things include guitar, basketball, internet and church.

First of all, I must tell that I liked to listen to music very much. About three years ago, I had a chance to listen to one Thai music band 'Silly Fools'. This band's guitarist was said to be one of Thailand's best guitarist. This person makes me wanted to learn to play guitar. However, I didn't take any classes, but bought a book and learn to play it slowly by myself. Everyday, I spent time on the guitar, practicing and trying to improve my skills.

This is all I wanted to talk about for now, the rest I will talk about it the next time when I revisit my blog. Have a nice day, and GOD BLESS YOU!!
